1. Playing for a cause

A concert to benefit the Shepherdstown Battlefield Preservation Association will be from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. Friday , Sept. 21, at Shepherdstown Train Station, Audrey Egle Drive, Shepherdstown, W.Va. Performing are Don Oehser and Todd Coyle, pictured. There will be an auction of Civil War interest. Free food. Cash bar, soft drinks. 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. $10. 2. Built 4 Comfort and Friday night

Built 4 Comfort will perform from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, at Clarion Hotel, Dual Highway, Hagerstown, atrium/pool area. Complete with use of pool, cash bar and indoor seating. Cash bar. $5; $2, ages 12 and younger. Call 301-790-3500 or go to www.mdtheatre.org.


3. Shall we dance?

First fall session of ballroom dance classes will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at  Allison-Antrim Museum, 365 S. Ridge Ave., Greencastle, Pa. The cha-cha and rumba rhythms will be taught at the intermediate level. 6:30 p.m. Pay-as-you-go price is $10 per person for three hours. Proceeds from the classes go toward overhead expenses for the barn. Call 717-597-9325.


4. Festival for the birds

Fall birding festival will be this weekend at the Ice House, Ice House, 138 Independence St., Berkeley Springs, W.Va. The event will be 7 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21; 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22; 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 23. Programs, bird walks and workshops. Birdchick.com blogger Sharon Stiteler will be the featured presenter. Marcy Heacker, a forensic ornithologist and raptor biologist Liam McGranaghan will participate. Most events are free. 5. A night for singles only

One on One Singles will hold a dance for ages 21 and older from 8 p.m. to midnight Friday, Sept. 21, at Knights of Columbus, 20340 Leitersburg Pike, Hagerstown.  Music by Slate's D.J.s. Casual dress, cash bar, snacks and door prizes. $8; $7 members. Call 304-274-3809 or 304-839-2322.
