Blazers tops Hubs in boys soccer

CLEAR SPRING — Clear Spring boys soccer coach Lynn Mills couldn’t say when the Blazers last beat North Hagerstown.

“I just know it’s been a while,” Mills said.

Now he’ll know the last time was Sept. 13, 2012.

The Blazers got goals from Corey McClure and Kevin Carbajal and an assist from Jonathon Henesy to beat the Hubs 2-0 on Thursday night.

Mills said the Blazers (3-1, 1-1) were excited about facing the Hubs, noting that several North players are members of a Clear Spring travel team.

“They’re friends and it’s become a rivalry,” Mills said. “But they were looking forward to this game.”

Levi Bucher had 13 saves for the Blazers.

The Hubs fall to 3-2, 1-1.

JV: North 1-0.

Goretti 5, Faith 2

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Kevin Proctor had two goals and an assist for St. Maria Goretti in its win over Faith Christian.

Jake Kline also scored two goals for the Gaels (4-2-1), while Casey Bartholomew had a goal and an assist and keeper Drew Katrina had one save.

Highland View 14, FCCCS 2

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. — Skyler Gordon and Caleb Gingerich each scored a goal in the loss for Fulton County Community Christian School.

CVCS 3, Grace 1

Nathan Brazil scored the lone goal for Grace Academy in a Mason Dixon Christian Conference loss to Cumberland Valley Christian School.

Jarrett Choi had 18 saves for the Knights (0-4-1).

Catoctin 3, Williamsport 2

THURMONT, Md. — Quentin Watson had two goals for Williamsport in an MVAL Antietam overtime loss to Catoctin (3-1-1, 1-0).

Owen Marx and Tiago Desouza each had an assist and Corey Ellis had 10 saves for the Wildcats (3-2, 1-1).

JV: Williamsport, 2-0.

Brunswick 9, Smithsburg 0

SMITHSBURG — Adam Dwyer had 14 saves for Smithsburg (1-3) in an MVAL Antietam loss to Brunswick.

JV: Brunswick, 5-0.
