Hazel Irene Jones, 100, passed peacefully into eternal life, Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at Fahrney-Keedy Home in Boonsboro.

Born Dec. 3, 1911, to Arthur and Emma (Wright) Obitts, she was the last of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Thomas Sr.; her second husband, Edgar Jones; a son, Richard, who she always called "Sonny"; a great-granddaughter; a grandson; five brothers; and one sister.

She is survived by a son, Charles Thomas Jr.; daughters, Barbara Churchey and Carolyn Bowman; and a stepdaughter, Cathy Cox; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 28 great-great-grandchildren; and a great-great-great-grandchild expected soon. She is also survived by a beloved "granddog," Fahrney, who was named for the facility where she lived for nearly 30 years.

Since she donated her body to the anatomy board for research, there will be no viewing. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Fahrney-Keedy Chapel, 8507 Mapleville Road, Boonsboro, MD 21713.
