Genetic Genealogy & Your Ancestry seminar set for Sept. 15

The seminar "Genetic Genealogy & Your Ancestry" will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Hagerstown Community College, Merle S. Elliott Continuing Education and Conference Center, 11400 Robinwood Drive, east of Hagerstown.

Dr. Tom Shawker of National Institutes of Health will speak on "Genetic Genealogy: The Very Basics" and "Race, Ethnicity, Ancestry: DNA Testing." Alexander C. Yi, senior information specialist, will speak on "Family Tree DNA: Genetic Genealogy Starts Here." Sabrina Petersen, director of global imaging with Ancestry.com, will talk on "Tips and Tricks, Beyond the Basics of Ancestry.com."

Dorothy Reed, HCC Continuing Education genealogy instructor, will moderate the event.

Cost for seminar is $35, plus $7 fee, which includes: lectures, materials, beverages and lunch.
