Police looking for information in stabbing incident at Hedgesville Food Lion

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. — Police said they are looking for an individual who stabbed a male near the Hedgesville Food Lion store Sunday night.

The victim told police that he was approached by a teenager asking for money, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department, which was notified at about 6:37 p.m.

The victim said that as he got closer to the teenager, the teenager stabbed him in the stomach, police said.

When the victim was bent over, he was hit in the head with a bottle, police said. The victim said he was stabbed again harder in the right thigh.

The suspect fled to the back of a pickup truck, police said.

The victim said he ran into the grocery store and a witness called for help.

The truck into which the suspect climbed was described as a green Mazda or Nissan with a missing hubcap, police said.

Police had no information about the condition of the victim.
