Police seek two men following early morning burglary in Hagerstown

Hagerstown police are seeking information about suspects from a 3:34 a.m. burglary at 73 Madison Ave. in which a shotgun and knife were displayed.


Police are searching for Richard William Nicewarner, 29, of Hagerstown, on charges of first-degree burglary, theft and second-degree assault. They said he carried a shotgun during the robbery.


The second suspect is described as a white man in his 20s with short, dark hair and unkept facial hair, police said. He is believed to be about 6 foot tall and about 160 pounds, police said.


The second suspect was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and white or tan pants, and he was armed with a knife during the burglary, police said.

Police said a victim reported two men entered a home demanding money and fled with a bottle of prescription medication after being told there was no money.


Information is being sought about the incident and Nicewarner's whereabouts, police said.
