Sylvia Ruth Crabtree, 96, of Hancock, Md., died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at Morgan County War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

Born Nov. 28, 1915, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Emma Cooper Iames, and the widow of Hanson P. Crabtree, her husband of 56 years, who died Oct. 16, 1989.

She retired from Mason's Barn Restaurant, and previously was employed by Crystal Laundry.

She was a member of Hancock Presbyterian Church, a member of the Red Hat Club and Hancock Senior Citizens, and was an avid bingo player.

She is survived by one daughter, Sondra K. Bishop of Hancock; two sons, Thomas Donald Crabtree of Kittanning, Pa., and Hanson Leroy Crabtree of Kansas City, Kan.; 12 grandchildren, Tommy, Ron and J.D. Crabtree, Carolyn Smith, Stephanie Elkin, Donnie Lee, Rick Crabtree, Diana Engle, Debbie Unger, David and Jim Price, and Frank Bishop Jr.; and a number of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sylvia Ruthella Price; sisters, Grace Miller, Vesta Meister and Dolsie Valentine; brothers, Percy Iames and McKinley Iames; an infant brother, Lester Iames; grandson, Joey Bishop; and three infant grandchildren, Donette and Johnny Crabtree, and Ericka Lee Engle.

A service will be Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Mount Olivet Presbyterian Church, 14253 Exline Road, Hancock. The Rev. Philip Unger will officiate. Burial will be at Glendale Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Flintstone, Md.

The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, Hancock, and Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to Berkeley Springs Rehab and Nursing, 456 Autumn Acres Road, Berkeley Springs, WV 25411.
