Smithsburg Senior Site Calendar for this week: Wednesday — How to stay safe in the Hospital, presented by Ita Kavanagh, 10 a.m.;  Friday— Chair exercise, 10 a.m.;  Monday — Diabetes program, presented by Louise Wyant, 9:30 a.m.

 
Ballroom dance party scheduled for Friday

Jim Powers Ballroom Dance Party will be held this Friday from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Maugansville Ruritan Building, Maugans Avenue, Maugansville.
 

Fancy Brass featured at Pen Mar Park

Pen Mar Park continues with the Summer Music Series until Sept. 30.  This week’s featured group is Fancy Brass.  They will play from 1 to  5 p.m.

TOPS 0462 to meet in new location

TOPS MD 0462 Smithsburg will be meeting in a new location. Trinity Lutheran Church, 16 N. Main St., Smithsburg. The reason for the move is that Trinity Church has a wheelchair ramp for new visitors who might need to use it.

TOPS is a nonprofit weight-loss support group that helps members reach their personal goal weights.

TOPS MD 462 Smithsburg meets every Thursday, with weigh-ins starting at 5:30 p.m. The chapter meeting runs from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Visitors are always welcome. The first meeting is free to new members.

Lions club is accepting yard sale donations

The Chewsville Lions Club is currently accepting donations of good, resalable items (but please, no TVs) for its annual yard sale to be held on Saturday, Sept. 29, off Md. 64 (Jefferson Boulevard) by the Pools, Patios and Porches shop in Chewsville. For donations, please call Warren Middlekauff at 301-739-3298, or any member of the Chewsville Lions Club. Local pickup is available.
