CHEWSVILLE — A 34-year-old man has been charged in the armed robbery Monday night of a pizza delivery driver in the Chewsville area, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

David William Scott Mills, of no fixed address, was charged with armed robbery, first- and second-degree assault, and theft of more than $100, the release said.

The robbery on Twin Springs Road at Waltz Road was reported at about 10 p.m. The driver told police he had been robbed at knifepoint of cash and two pizzas, according to the release.

Units from the sheriff’s office, assisted by Maryland State Police and the Smithsburg Police Department, responded to the area and found a man who matched the description of the robber. Mills was taken into custody.
