George E. Blickenstaff, 80, of Myersville, Md., died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown.

He was the husband of the late E. Jane Blickenstaff, who preceded him in death in 2003.

Born Feb. 11, 1932, in Wolfsville, he was the son of the late Harry G. and Gladys A. Hoover Blickenstaff.

George was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church and New Well Ministry, both of Myersville.

He was president of International Fellowship Christian Businessmen, a long-term member and officer of Frederick County Chapter of Gideons, one of the founding fathers of Middletown Valley Athletic Association, a longtime coach for Myersville Little League and Middletown Knights, and a past member of the Myersville Lions Club.

He retired after many years with the Maryland State Office of Assessments and Taxation, and was previously employed by Beachley Furniture Co., Hagerstown.

Surviving George are his children and grandchildren, Robin Blickenstaff Schmitt and husband, Henry, and daughters, Karliee and Kaytlyn; William Brent Blickenstaff and wife, Patty, and children, Jeremy, Amy, Cody and Bailey; and George Barry Blickenstaff and wife, Kelly, and children Ana, Kirsten and Isaac.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Myersville, with the Rev. Mary K. Worrel, the Rev. Jim Smith and the Rev. Randall Reid officiating.

Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Ricketts Funeral Home, Myersville, Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
