Charles Earl "Buddy" Callahan, 64, of Martinsburg, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, at City Hospital.

Born April 27, 1948, in Berkeley County, he was the son of the late Earl J. Callahan and Audrey (Fowler) Callahan.

Mr. Callahan retired as engineer manager from Verizon and also worked at FEMA for several years.

He was a member for more than 50 years at Otterbein United Methodist Church.

He was a member of Martinsburg Lodge 120, Loyal Order of Moose, Optimist Club, the Izaak Walton League, head of safety ski patrol at Whitetail Ski Resort, and was an Eagle Scout.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Shirley (Funkhouser) Callahan; one son, Charles Michael Callahan and wife, Kristie, of Hagerstown; two grandchildren, Kaden Michael and Kolton Matthew Callahan; and Scott Price, who he thought of as a second son; one brother, Michael Callahan of Pennsylvania; one sister, Betty Jean Fulk and husband, Dave, of Martinsburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at Otterbein United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Mooney officiating. Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 31, at the church.
