Mail Call - Aug. 29

August 28, 2012

“I appreciate the Health section in The Herald-Mail. It’s very informative. Also, by reading Health, we get a read on what so many people are dealing with due to illness. The Health section educates us, keeps us aware of our own health, personalizes someone else’s battle with illness, and better yet, can teach empathy.”

“The next time there’s something negative about teachers in the Washington County school system, I want you to think about the teachers at Salem Avenue school, who visit the children they’re going to teach this year. This is above and beyond the call of duty. It’s something special — but teachers are like that.”
— Halfway

“Can anybody tell us why The Herald-Mail will not print in Mail Call anything concerning the Washington County Commissioners and their finances and their county debt?”
— Maugansville

“I just want to say I salute all adults who home-school students. Salute to you all.”
— Hagerstown

“The extremely loud rock music at Doub’s Wood Park on Saturday the 18th made it impossible for us to enjoy our family picnic there. We’re all in favor of the arts and enjoy it, and encouraging young people in their artistic pursuits. But we might have enjoyed the music if the adults in charge would not have acted so rudely and shown a little more courtesy to others. Instead, it sounded as if the music became louder and louder as the event progressed. Unfortunately, they have set a bad example for the children in regard to attitude toward others.”
— Hagerstown

“If folks aren’t smart enough or motivated enough to get a photo ID, are they smart enough and motivated enough to vote? I leave the answer up to you.”
— Brightwood Acres
