Two new Pooch Plunges

The Humane Society of Washington County is planning two new pooch plunges. 

On Saturday from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., there will be a dog splash at L. Beard Miller Pool at Byron Memorial Park on Park Road in Williamsport. 

On Saturday, Sept. 8, the inaugural pup plunge will take place at the pool at Martin L. “Marty”  Snook Memorial Park in Halfway from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Both events will benefit the humane society.

Admission to each of the events will be the same as the pooch plunge, which is $5 for one dog and handler. Additional individuals or pets cost $2 each.

Diabetes support group to meet Wednesday

The Diabetes Support Group at Potomac Towers will meet Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the first-floor community room. 

The program to be presented will be “Myths of Diabetes Revealed.”

John Lipscomb from Advanced Diabetic Solutions will be available for diabetic shoe fittings and glucometers. 

The group is open to individuals who live at Potomac Towers, as well as anyone in the community. The forum is provided for educating individuals with diabetes to help manage their disease and gain support from others.

Habitat for Humanity group plans basket bingo

On Sunday Oct. 14, Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build program will hold its second annual basket bingo at The Improved Order of Red Men Tribe 84 on Lappans Road in Williamsport.

Doors will open at 11 a.m., lunch will be served and bingo will start at noon.

Discovery Station to present Mars event

Discovery Station presents “Amazing Curiosity on Mars” in its “Space and Beyond” display.

Total viewing time will be 1 1/2 hours in continuous segments.

Viewing will be Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Discovery Station is on West Washington Street in downtown Hagerstown.
