Frederick man charged with possession

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A Frederick, Md., man was charged early Friday by Martinsburg police with having drugs in his car during a traffic stop, according to a Martinsburg Police Department news release.

Martin C. Felder Jr., 33, of 4129 Tottenham St., was charged with two counts of possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, police said.

Felder was pulled over in the 600 block of Winchester Avenue at about 1:25 a.m. on suspicion of driving under the influence, police said. When officers walked up to the vehicle, Felder was nervous and shaking.

Felder dropped what appeared to be crack cocaine in a cup holder when he was asked to get out of the car, police said.

Police found two large pieces of suspected crack cocaine in the cup holder, and $4,000 and a bag of marijuana in his pockets, police said. Baking powder, a sifter, a box of baggies and a bag of rubber bands also were found in the vehicle.

Felder was taken to Eastern Regional Jail.

Police make arrest in Boost Mobile store robbery attempt

A Hagerstown man has been charged with spraying pepper spray at a worker at the Boost Mobile store on Dual Highway during an attempted robbery Thursday morning, according to the Hagerstown Police Department.

Christopher Donovan Heiberger, 27, of 11206A Marburn Drive, was charged with attempted armed robbery, attempted robbery, second-degree assault and carrying pepper spray with intent to injure, police said in a news release.

A man entered the store at 1201 Dual Highway on Thursday at about 11 a.m. and demanded money, police said.

A worker made a motion to duck behind a counter when the man sprayed pepper spray at the worker, police said.

The man fled the store after the robbery attempt, police said.

Witnesses were able to get a good description of the man and his vehicle, police said.

Heiberger was taken into custody at Rocky's Pizza on Robinwood Drive at about 2:30 p.m., police said.

No one was injured in the robbery attempt, police said.

The same store was robbed at gunpoint nine days earlier, according to a Washington County Emergency Services dispatcher.

On Aug. 14, a man with a handgun entered Boost Mobile and robbed it before fleeing, the dispatcher said.

There were no reported injuries. The call for the robbery went out at 6:27 p.m., the dispatcher said.

The man, believed to be between 18 and 20 years old, was described as being white, and about 6 feet tall and 120 pounds with blond hair. He was wearing a black shirt and black jeans, the dispatcher said.

Washington County Sheriff's Office responds to incidents

The following incidents were reported by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office between Wednesday at 8 a.m. and Thursday at 8 a.m.:

  • A burglary was reported in the 13500 block of Cresspond Road in Clear Spring.
  • A theft was reported in the 1700 block of Massey Boulevard near Hagerstown.
  • A theft was reported in the 12800 block of Salem Avenue near Hagerstown.
