A ‘donation’ should not be a requirement

To the editor:

Donations are nice, but earning is better.

I am talking about letters sent out by a local club to members telling them what theirs should be ($150 or $100) to help defray operating costs.

Most members are retired (like myself) and live on certain budgets. In a budget, you can’t juggle money from one place to another then work overtime to put it back.

I’m not a poor person but not a wealthy one. I’m also from the old school as if you can give “some money” to help ($50 or $100) it would help us keep “your” club open. My membership entitles me to any other club (there’s 13 in a 25-mile radius) that would appreciate me coming there and would not suggest I spend a certain dollar amount or not to come back. Enough said.
