Mail Call - Aug. 22

August 22, 2012

“Well, I guess if Mitt Romney gets elected, all Republican businessmen will start hiring, since they were told to hold out, that the Republicans would get rid of President Obama. Then they can start hiring, making Romney look good in his first year. I get so tired of Republicans saying the worst economy and the worst recovery in several years. Well, if the president hadn’t had the worst Congress in the history of the U.S., do-nothing Republicans, he would have done much better. So ask yourself, Republicans, what have you done for your country in 3 1/2 years?”

“I’m just trying to respond to two different things I’ve seen in the paper about the PONY League trying to get money for the parents to go follow their boys in the All-Stars. First of all, it may be, in the 13-year-olds. The 14-year-olds, the parents paid for their kids to go, and the parents and everything. So that needs to be publicized in the paper correctly, and the parents who did try to get money to get themselves to go to California, you’re right, if they can’t pay ... the 14-year-old All-Stars didn’t get help from anyone except for their parents.”

“What is one day of fun at ‘Rockin’ at the River Bottom?’ I would love for something like this to take place in our town. If you don’t like it, take a day trip to some other boring town for the day. Let the rest of us have a little fun.”

“I was reading the paper yesterday where a gentleman said he thanked President Obama for letting him buy a house. I don’t understand that, how he bought a house with $8,000 of tax money. I’d like to know whether it was in auction, or somebody went bankrupt and couldn’t keep their house, or was it a straight sale? So I’d like to know exactly what the, how he got a house for $8,000 of tax money. Obama didn’t give him anything. All they’re doing is just taking money from the taxpayers.”

“I’d like to ask everyone a question. Maybe we can get some good answers here in Mail Call. Every time around elections, we’re always hearing quotes from these so-called political experts. Now my question is this: If these people are experts in the field of politics, why is this country in the shape it’s in? Don’t you think these people, if they’re experts ... these so-called experts in politics could help our politicians do their job? A political expert. Someone tell me exactly what that consists of.”
