HAGERSTOWN — The local NFL Punt, Pass and Kick competition will be returning to North Hagerstown High School this year on Sept. 8 at 2 p.m.

Junior Hubs president Ron Thomas is taking over the event from last year’s organizer, Randy Franklin.

“We registered with USA Football and they gave us a whole gameplan,” said Thomas. “We want exposure in this area, we’re trying to do that.”

NFL Punt, Pass and Kick is a competition for boys and girls ages 6-15, in which each competitor gets one punt, pass and kick and the distances of all three are combined for each individual’s final score. The competition is separated into five age groups: 6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13 and 14-15.

Each winner from the event will move on to a sectional round, where the winners from each community will compete for the chance to participate at the state competition at M&T Bank Stadium.

“I came down last year to watch it,” said Thomas. “This year it’s all very organized. We have a board and 12 coaches with individual stations.”

Last year’s competition gathered more than 40 competitors, but Thomas expects that number to increase exponentially this year.

“We’re prepared for 100 competitors. We have many kids preregistered already, and we get more and more each day,” Thomas said.
