Kara Stamper had 17 kills, two blocks and three digs to lead Heritage Academy to a 25-11, 25-11, 25-8 season-opening victory over Faith Christian in the Mason Dixon Christian Conference.

Chloe Prejean had 19 assists, 12 service points and two digs, Hannah Gaylor had 17 service points, Brittany Horchner had 11 service points and Nicole Gaylor added 11 digs for the Eagles.

Bethany Williams had five kills and two blocks for Faith.

Terps to hold walk-on tryouts

COLLEGE PARK, Md. — The University of Maryland football team will hold walk-on tryouts on Sept. 3.

Interested players must be full-time students who are currently enrolled at the University. Candidates should report to Gossett Team House at 2:30 p.m.
