1. Meet me at the fair

Jefferson County Fair continues through Saturday, Aug. 25, at Jefferson County Fairgrounds, 1707 Old Leetown Pike, Kearneysville, W.Va. 2. Potato fun that's instant

Spudfest will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at Washington County Rural Heritage Museum, 7313 Sharpsburg Pike, south of Hagerstown. Potatoes planted in the spring will be harvested by horse-drawn plow. Prizes will be awarded to children, in age groups, for finding the largest and smallest potatoes. A homemade potato chip demonstration, and artisan bread baking at the outdoor bread oven, 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Taste of the Garden with Master Gardeners, 1 to 3 p.m. at the German Four Square Garden. 3. A film gets its premiere

Author and screenwriter Jane E. Ryan will show her new movie "The Boarder"  at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25. Leitersburg Cinemas, Leitersburg Pike, Hagerstown. The screenings will be followed by a Q&A session with writer and executive producer Jane Elizabeth Ryan, director Jolene Adams, actor Andy Scott Harris, and Dan and Tina Hall, local residents who advised filmmakers. 4. Come sail away

Country Western Dance Association will hold a Hawaiian Breeze line dance from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at Maugansville Ruritan, 18007 Maugans Ave., Maugansville. Those who come in Hawaiian attire will be eligible to win a prize. $7; $5 members. Open to singles and couples. Email

5. 'Friends'

Artwork by artists/teachers from the Baltimore community college system, called "Friends," will be exhibited at the  Ice House, 138 Independence St., Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
