Bard wins Hagerstown Speedway feature

Former multiple-time four-cylinder champion Jerry Bard won one of Hagerstown Speedway’s most prestigious events Saturday night, taking the topless Ernie D’s Shorty Bowers Bull Durham Championship event.

Bard, of Shippensburg, Pa., collected $2,500 for the win plus another $500 in lap money for the 25-lap event, in which he held off Austin Hubbard to win by 0.56 seconds. Bard became the 10th different winner in the late model division this season.

J.T. Spence, of Winchester, Va., took top honors in the Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic late model sportsman event, while Frederick, Md., drivers Kevin Boyer (Ernie D’s pure stock) and Mark Vegh (D&D Auto Recycling hobby stock) also were victorious.


Williamsport Nationals fall baseball tryouts

The Williamsport Nationals fall baseball tryouts have been rescheduled for Wednesday at Williamsport High School at 6 p.m. The Nationals will participate in the Tri-State Fall Baseball League. Any high school freshman, sophomore or age-eligible junior is welcome to try out for one of 16 roster positions.
