Mrs. Susan M. (Thorpe) Roberts, 77, of 835 Reid Road, State Line, Pa., died at 10:40 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at her home. She had been in failing health for three months and critically ill for the past two weeks.

Born June 10, 1935, in Middletown, Va., she was the daughter of the late Thomas T. and Carrie Virginia (Dodson) Thorpe.

Mrs. Roberts attended Middletown schools.

She and her first husband, Ronald Redman, were married in September 1951. Mr. Redman died Feb. 26, 1989.

She and her second husband, Jeremiah Neal Roberts, were married in 1977 in Hagerstown, Md. Mr. Roberts died Aug. 8, 2005.

Mrs. Roberts worked for Hanover Shoes, Maryland Kitchen, and later as a delivery person for Medicine Shoppe, Corsi’s Pizza and Stork Dy-dee. She retired as a nursing assistant for Williamsport Nursing Home.

She enjoyed playing bingo, painting ceramics, art, writing poetry, and playing guitar, mandolin and banjo.

She is survived by seven daughters, Amber C. McCarty, State Line, Tina Marie Fewell, Martinsburg, W.Va., Virginia Mae Grams, Kearneysville, W.Va., Penny Lynn Redman, Martinsburg, Connie Diane Kitts, Charles Town, W.Va., Thelma Lorraine Miller, Martinsburg, and Lisa Dawn Watts, Hagerstown; seven sons, Bret Allen Redman, Keedysville, Md., Bart Owen Redman, Clear Spring, Md., Burt Aaron Redman, Hagerstown, Michael Eugene Redman, Kent Island, Md., Billy Lloyd Redman, Frederick, Md., John Marvin Redman, Martinsburg, and Jeremiah Edward Roberts, Chambersburg, Pa.; 32 grandchildren; and 48 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Franklin R. Thorpe.

A reception for family and friends will be held Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, at 6 p.m. at her State Line home.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle, Pa., is handling the arrangements.
