BOONSBORO, Md. — Greenbrier Elementary School fifth-grade reading enrichment students were challenged this past school year to make a difference.

In combination with a coin drive, the students agreed to “adopt” the American bald eagle and the Douc monkey from the World Wildlife Federation, along with supporting the Ronald McDonald House and the Humane Society of Washington County.

Greenbrier student Kensie Olson presented checks to Lucy Samoyoa at McDonald’s on Dual Highway and Kim Jones at the humane society on Maugansville Road.
