Dining with Diabetes classes will be in Pennsylvania

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. ¿ — Penn State Extension is offering a class on diabetes lifestyle. “Dining with Diabetes: A Program for Adults with Diabetes and their Families,” is designed to teach people how to juggle the lifestyle factors necessary to manage type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetes.

Each participant will receive a recipe book, two exercise DVDs, a pedometer, a stretch band and a blood test to measure recent blood sugar levels. Each class, taught by a registered dietitian, offers food demonstrations, mild physical activity and discussion.

The total cost for the six classes is $40 for an individual or $55 for a family registration. Each individual or family registrant will receive a $20 registration rebate for program completion. 

The fall classes will be held at the Franklin County Ag Heritage Building. The classes will be from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 5, through Oct. 3, with a follow-up on Dec. 5. The instructor is Nancy Routch. Scholarships are available.
