Doris Eileen Bowers, 85, of Williamsport, Md., passed away Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, at her home.
She was born Sept. 30, 1926, in Sharpsburg, Md., the daughter of the late Ethel Knode Herbert, and was raised by her grandparents, the late William R. and Ella Knode.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville L. "Whitey" Bowers, in 2004.
She was a homemaker, and she also worked in the cafeteria at Potomac Edison for more than 20 years until retiring.
She was of the Protestant faith.
Doris is survived by a daughter, Donna L. Stockslager and her husband, Bucky, of Hagerstown, Md.; a son, Will Bowers and his wife, Connie, of Williamsport; two granddaughters, Beth Anne Neisser of Hagerstown and Kara Lea Bowers of Williamsport; three grandsons, Christopher R. Stockslager of Hagerstown, and Dan E. Bowers and Patrick A. Bowers, both of Williamsport; three half-sisters, Mary Gordon, Peg Byrd and Betty Everitt, all of Williamsport; an aunt, Anne Hancock of North Springfield, Va.; and four great-grandsons.
In addition to her husband, mother and grandparents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Pete Knode; and a half-brother, Jim Herbert.
The family will receive friends at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, MD 21795, Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral home will be open Monday at 1 p.m. for the convenience of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gregory P. Shook officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport.
