Hagerstown man with gun arrested at Frederick mall

FREDERICK, Md. — A Hagerstown man was arrested Friday afternoon and charged with illegally carrying a loaded handgun at the Francis Scott Key Mall in Frederick, Maryland State Police said in a news release.

Justin L. Gross, no age given, was taken into custody without incident shortly after troopers arrived about 2 p.m. for reports of a man carrying or concealing a weapon in the waistband of his pants, police said.

Troopers found Gross with the help of mall security officers, and he was taken to Frederick County Detention Center, police said.

There were no reports that Gross showed the weapon or threatened any people at the mall, police said.

The mall is on Buckeystown Pike near Interstate 270, just south of Frederick.
