Mail Call - Aug. 16

August 16, 2012

“Well, here they go again. This RG3 thing, about the football player in D.C. Don’t they have anybody else on the team? I think it’s fine that they were giving the rest of the team some notification. After all, it does take a team to win, not just one man.”

— Hagerstown

“People keep saying it’s not taxpayer money, it’s a grant. Grants are taxpayer money. Again, grants are taxpayer money. Do you think the government has a grant tree, where they grow free money?”

— Hagerstown

“I think the town has came up with some really good ideas to get the townspeople out together, and if you don’t want to participate, stay inside and keep your door closed.”

— Williamsport

“About the junk mail, I reduced my junk mail by about 70 percent in the last six months or so. How? First, I open all the junk mail, then I look for the postage-paid envelopes. Next, I find the page with my name and address on it. On this page I write, ‘Remove this name and address from your mailing list.’ Put this in the envelope and mail it back to them. Since they have to pay the postage to get the note back, they stop.”

— Hagerstown

“There have been several Mail Calls and letters to the editor about the innocents being treated unfairly in the Penn State situation. Unfairness happens in every legal punishment. A man was recently sentenced to 20 years in prison. His wife and three children were innocent, but they too were punished. The Penn State athletes have the opportunity to transfer to other schools. Penn State got off easy.”
