Preschool enrolling students for school year

Open Arms Child Care Development Center will have a booth at Valley Mall Saturday where there will be an opportunity for children to do a craft and for parents to find out about the preschool. 

An open house is planned Sunday at 2 p.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church, 17906 Garden Lane, Hagerstown.

There are a few openings available for 3- and 4-year-olds for two or three mornings a week for the school year.

Evolution Rock School plans concert Saturday

Evolution Rock School students will take the stage for the summer concert cookout bash Saturday at noon at the Doub’s Woods Park pavilion in Hagerstown.

The event is free and open to the public.

Proceeds from donations and food and drink sales will be used toward music equipment for the students. Attendees are encouraged to take blankets and chairs to the concert.

Summer concert series continues at City Park

The Hagerstown Municipal Band will perform Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the Peter Buys Band Shell at Hagerstown City Park.

The event is free and open to the public.

Basket cash bingo

A basket cash bingo will be held Sunday, Sept. 9, to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association.

Tickets cost $20 per ticket or two for $35. The meal is included in the ticket purchase. Doors will open at 11 a.m.,  lunch will be served at noon and bingo will follow at 1 p.m. The event will be held at The Improved Order of Red Men Tribe 84 on Lappans Road in Williamsport.

Wow, did the summer just fly by? Washington County Public Schools will begin the 2012-13 school year on Wednesday, Aug. 22.
