Fun zone planned

A children’s fun zone will be held at Paramount Brethren in Christ Church on Longmeadow Road Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. 

It will include water games (bring appropriate attire), an inflatable bounce, snacks, story time and crafts.

Fun fest

Shiloh United Methodist Church, at 19731 Shiloh Church Road, Hagerstown, will hold a fun fest Saturday, Sept. 15, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event will include an antique and classic car show, yard sale, flea market and craft show.

There will be free children’s games and an inflatable bounce. Door prizes, cake walk, praise bands and other entertainment will be part of the festivities.

The menu includes breakfast and lunch, including homemade soups and country ham sandwiches.

School supplies giveaway

Shiloh United Methodist Church will have a free school supply giveaway Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. for those in kindergarten to fifth grade.

Losses for the week totaled to 27 1/2 pounds for TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 0077.

Betty Jones, Mike Reed and Pat Horning racked up the best losses for TOPS, while Mada Law, Louise Kline and Lu M. did the best for KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly).

Bonnie Henry won the ha-ha prize. The no-no snack for the week is pie.

Millie Toms presented the program on binging. She said there are 21 identified causes for binging ranging from boredom to rebellion.  Millie listed each of them and offered alternate behaviors.

The group meets Mondays at First Christian Church, 1345 Potomac Ave. in Hagerstown.

TOPS 308

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 308 members were led in a program by their new leader, Susan, who made a presentation from the TOPS book, “The Choice is Yours.”

Mary Mullane talked to the group about International Recognition Days 2012.

In addition, Virginia Rodgers celebrated 31 years as a KOPS (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly) member on Aug. 4. Mary Stuhler has had 18 years and has never been over her goal weight.

The group has a new member, Susan Knode, and a member who returned, Dennis Mummert.

The chapter meets Fridays at Christ Lutheran Church, 216. N. Cleveland Ave., Hagerstown. Weigh-in is at 5 p.m. and the meeting starts at 6 p.m.
