Are you ready for school to start next week?

Church yard sale

Greenbrier Baptist Church, at the intersection of U.S. 40 and Md. 66 north of Boonsboro, will hold a yard sale Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m. 

There will be lots of bargains, baked goods and other food available for purchase. 

Table spaces are available to rent for $10. Proceeds will benefit the Friday Night Date Night program.

Chicken barbecue

A chicken barbecue to benefit the Brigitte and Brittany Heller Scholarship Funds will be held Saturday at the Boonsboro Ambulance Station at 7619 Old National Pike. 


The chicken will be available beginning at 9 a.m.

Yard and bake sale

The Fahrney-Keedy Auxiliary will hold its fall yard sale, food and bake sale Saturday, Sept. 8, beginning at 9 a.m. 

At 10 a.m., food will be available in the dining room with the menu including country ham and regular ham sandwiches, soup and other items. A bake sale will be in the main lobby, and donations of baked goods are welcome.

Fahrney-Keedy Home and Village is at 8507 Mapleville Road (Md. 66) just north of Boonsboro.

Library news

Coming up at the library:

Teens will wrap up the summer reading program with a craft activity on Friday at 5 p.m. Participants will decorate a drawstring bag for a back-to-school activity. 

On Monday, Aug. 20, the Young Readers Book Club, a new group for readers ages 8 and older, will meet at 5 p.m. to talk about “Wonderstruck,” by Brian Selznick. 

The Afternoon Book Club meets Tuesday, Aug. 21, at 3 p.m. The book to be discussed will be “Same Kind of Different as Me,” by Ron Hall and Denver Moore.
