Greater Campher Temple, 125 Bethel St., will host vacation Bible school  from Monday, Aug. 13 through Friday, Aug. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m., with a different meal served each night before the start of the program. 

The discipleship camp will teach participants how to become a follower and not a fan, in addition to the opportunity to learn, share, explore and have fun. 

While it is open to those ages 3 to young adults, adults can also take part as classes will be available for them to share, too. 

The event is geared for the entire family.

Bridge of Life church

The speaker at Bridge of Life church, 14 S. Potomac St., on Sunday will be Bill Young.

Young has been an active member of the congregation for more than 30 years and has been in full-time faith ministry for that period, first in prisons, and now as a traveling minister. 

He serves as an elder and his call is most clearly demonstrated in prophetic ministry. 

Family and friends picnic

On Sunday, Second Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will hold its annual members, family and friends day picnic at Hagerstown City Park, starting at 11:30 a.m.

Attendees are asked to bring a covered dish.

Canine games

On Friday, Aug. 17, Peaceable Paws will host its canine games night from 7 to 9 p.m. at its dog-training facility in Fairplay. 

Think your dog has what it takes, come and take part of the competition.

Summer basketball league

The Ruth Monroe Summer Basketball League concluded another successful season under the leadership of Carlton “Mimi” Davis with a pool party at the Memorial Recreation Center on Sunday, August 5th.

Between 60 and 65 of the League Participants were presented with trophies by their coaches.

At the end, all in attendance were served pizza, drinks, and had an opportunity to swim.
