Arbanna Susan McGowan, 88, of Hagerstown, Md., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012, at Meritus Medical Center.
Born May 4, 1924, in Sharpsburg, Md., she was the daughter of the late Howard David and Bessie Katherine Hutson Gross.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Charles E. McGowan in April 2005. They lived on Pope Avenue in Hagerstown for 66 years.
She had been employed by Corning Glass and Two Guys before retiring.
Arbanna loved bowling in the senior leagues for both fall and summer.
She loved playing 500 rummy every week with her daughter, Faye; and son, Charles, and wife, Connie.
She is survived by daughter, Faye Myers of Hagerstown; son, Charles McGowan and wife, Connie, of Hagerstown; grandchildren, Charles McGowan and wife, Wendy, of Smithsburg, Md., Michelle Staley and husband, Joey, of Hagerstown, LaDonna Wenk and husband, Rob, of Greencastle, Pa.; and great-grandchildren, Candace Winters and husband, Ethan, of Hagerstown, Shawne McGowan and friend, Jordon, of Smithsburg, Joey Staley and Britney of Hagerstown, and little Ray Wenk of Greencastle.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn and Gerald Gross; and a grandson, Richard Lane McGowan.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. James R. Stauffer will officiate. Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
