Beloved mother and wife, Marlene M. McVeagh, 76, passed Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, after a long battle with a chronic illness.
Born Sept. 13, 1935, in Baltimore, Md., she was the daughter of Madeline and William Kowalski.
In 1961, she moved to Frederick, where she lived for 20 years. During that time, she worked for the Frederick County Commission on Aging, where she made a positive difference in the lives of many of the county's elderly residents.
For the past 25 years, she was a resident of Hagerstown, and was fortunate to enjoy the love and support of a wide network of friends.
Marlene is survived by her devoted husband of 33 years, Hugh D McVeagh Jr. of Hagerstown; and her three children, Steven Brady, Kathleen Brady de la Paz and Bruce McVeagh. Lastly, her true joy, her 10 grandchildren, Dane Brady, Deven Brady, Joseph Fleming, Jacqueline Brady, Samantha Fleming, Isabella McVeagh, Claire de la Paz, Sydney de la Paz, Hugh McVeagh and Madeline McVeagh.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.
A Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 17630 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Christopher P. Moore officiating.
After Mass, a procession to the grave site at Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown for burial will take place and finally a reception back at St. Joseph.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 17630 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
