Dorothy Irene Gruber, 86, of Williamsport, Md., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, at Williamsport Retirement Center.

Born Feb. 15, 1926, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late John Harvey and Bessie Viola Sterling Byers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Henry Gruber, on April 18, 1983.

She attended Williamsport High School.

She was employed by Alkahn Woven Label Mill in Williamsport until retiring in 1988.

She was a member of Williamsport United Methodist Church. She previously was a Sunday school teacher.

She was a member of AMVETS Post 10 Ladies Auxiliary of Hagerstown, Md.

She is survived by daughter, Sherry J. Willetts of Hagerstown; son, Gary L. Gruber and his wife, Christy, of Williamsport; granddaughter, Jennifer L. Gruber of Arlington, Va.; grandson, James Willetts and his wife, Jackie, of Williamsport; great-granddaughter, Katlyn Willetts of Williamsport; and nieces and nephews.

She was the last member of her immediate family.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Janice Hammond and Margaret Byers; and four brothers, William Byers, Earl Byers, Charles Byers and Roy Byers.

At her request, there will be no viewing or visitation.

A graveside service will be Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport, with the Rev. Susan Boehl officiating.
