The staff at Salem Avenue Elementary School will be walking around the neighborhoods in their school district during the afternoon of Friday, Aug. 17, to personally welcome students and their families back to school for the 2012-13 school year.
“This is a great opportunity for us to know our students and their families on a more personal level,” said Principal Tom Garner. The first day of classes for Washington County Public School students is Wednesday, Aug. 22.
West Hagerstown Lions
The 2012 Lions Club Change of Banner was July 28 at the Cozy Restaurant in Thurmont, Md.
Jim Roby, Wanda Roby, Mary Chaney, Mark Smith, Frances Ruth and Donna Jackman represented the West Hagerstown Lions Club.
Jim Roby was presented the 100 Percent Club President’s Award. Membership Chairman Ruth received the 100 Percent Membership Director Award for her hard work in increasing the club’s membership. Jackman received the 100 Percent Secretary Award and the 100 Percent Newsletter Award. The West Hagerstown Lions Club was presented with the 100 Percent Visitation Award, as well as the 100 Percent Club Excellence Award for completing all the requirements requested by the district governor for the 2011-12 year.
