M. Wayne Trumpower, 79, of Englewood Road in Hagerstown, Md., passed away suddenly Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012.

Born Feb. 5, 1933, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late William W. Trumpower and Sally A. Trumpower Marquiss.

He was retired after 42 years of service with CSX Railroad, formerly Western Maryland/Chessie/B&O in Hagerstown and Cumberland.

Wayne was a member of Masonic Lodge 217 in Hagerstown; the Old Timers 212 of the Railroad in Hagerstown; as well as The Cumberland Locomotive Shop Retirees Association and AARP.

Wayne was a continuous blood donor for the American Red Cross, giving more than 124 units.

He was a faithful and active, devoted, longtime member of Battlefield Bible Church in Fairplay, Md., where he served as a deacon for many years.

He was a loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He always loved his family, and spending time with them was one of his greatest joys in life.

He enjoyed NASCAR races, Redskins football, working at the church, taking care of his cars, and always working in the yard and around the house. He was very seldom idle. His love of life and his fellow man will live forever.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Catherine E. Trumpower of Hagerstown; two sons, Jeffrey A. Trumpower and wife, Billie-jo, of Hagerstown, and Brian L. Trumpower Sr. of Hillsboro, N.H.; one daughter, Carol D. Keckler of Hagerstown; five brothers, J. Vernon Trumpower and wife, Arlene, of Maugansville, Md., Raymond W. Trumpower and wife, Barbara, of Greencastle, Pa., Ted Trumpower of Marlowe, W.Va., Gregory L. Trumpower and wife, Mary Ann, of Falling Waters, W.Va, and Randy Trumpower and wife, Sherry, of Tennessee; one sister, Kay Palmer and husband, Marvin, of Williamsport, Md.; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his son, Darrell W. Trumpower; and two grandchildren, James R. Harne and Jennifer L. Harne.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Pastor Brian Colbert will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Tuesday at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m.
