New advancement director hired at HCC

Hagerstown Community College recently hired Stacey Lowman as its executive director of college advancement.

In her role as executive director, Lowman will oversee the HCC Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that seeks private contributions needed to fund student scholarships and equip campus buildings and facilities, as well as the HCC Alumni Association and the HCC Volunteers Corps.

Lowman has a long history of working in the fundraising field and first started out by working with nonprofit organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters, where she served as the county coordinator for the Garrett County branch; as school-based coordinator for the Hagerstown branch; and later as executive director for the agency that oversaw Allegany and Garrett County, Md., and Mineral County, W.Va.

From BBBS, Lowman went on to serve as corporate and foundation relations officer at Frederick Community College, education director for the Frederick County Business Roundtable and manager of major gifts at Meritus Health/Meritus Healthcare Foundation. Lowman has a master's degree in strategic leadership from Mountain State University and recently completed Certified Fund Raising Executive certification.
