USATF Junior Olympics
BALTIMORE — Two members of the Mountain Express Track Club earned All-American status at the USATF Junior Olympics at Morgan State University over the weekend.
Jordyn Morris placed second out of 33 competitors in the midget girls pentathlon, scoring 2,782 points, and finished fourth out of 56 competitors in the 80-meter hurdles in 12.75 seconds.
James Searcy was fifth out of 40 competitors in the midget boys high jump, clearing 4 feet, 9 inches. He also competed in the long jump, finishing 27th out of 52.
Athletes earn All-American status by finishing in the top 8 in an event.

Mid-Atlantic Golf
ROCKVILLE, Md. — Ashley Grier finished in a tie for ninth in the the Mid-Atlantic PGA Assistants Championship.
Grier, playing out of Beaver Creek, shot a 1-over-par 73 at Lakewood Country Club, and then followed up with an even-par-72, including four birdies, in Tuesday’s final round.
Jamie Gylen, of Raspberry Falls (Va.) Golf Club, shot a 68-66-134 for a six-stroke victory.

Calvert 13, Funkstown 5
FREDERICK, Md. — Funkstown Post 211 fell to Calvert in the opening round of the state tournament at McCurdy Field. No other information was available.
