Hedgesville man accused of trying to rob man in Martinsburg Walmart parking lot

Michael B. Lloyd was arraigned Monday on one count of first-degree attempted robbery

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A 20-year-old Berkeley County man is accused of attempting to rob a man in the Walmart parking lot at Martinsburg Mall in June, according to Berkeley County Magistrate Court records.

Michael B. Lloyd, of 236 Tonita Drive in Hedgesville, W.Va., was arraigned Monday by Magistrate Harry L. Snow on one count of first-degree attempted robbery, according to court records.

The victim of the alleged June 11 attempted robbery had blood inside his nose, marks on his face and blood spatter on his clothes when Martinsburg Police Patrol Officer Michael Jones arrived to investigate, according to court records.

The victim told police that the defendant was a former co-worker and that he tried to steal his watch, according to court documents.

The victim told police that he tried to walk away from the defendant after he began insulting him, but was surrounded by two other males and a female, according to court documents.

The victim said he was repeatedly struck in the head, but his assailant was unable to take his watch and the group eventually left, getting into different vehicles, according to court documents.
