Hagerstown Speedway

Don O’Neal, of Martinsville, Ind., didn’t let his first career win at Hagerstown Speedway get away, nor the $10,000 that went with it for taking the victory in the Lucas Oil Late Model Series 31st Annual Conococheague 50 on Saturday night. The win also advanced him into second in the series points standings.

Steve Francis led the first five laps from the pole after setting the fastest time of 18.337 seconds, until-fifth starting O’Neal dove under to capture the position.

O’Neal, who built nearly a 3-second lead, led until Lap 42 before Francis finally reeled him and passed him. After several lead changes between the two drivers, O’Neal took the lead for good on the 46th lap and pulled away to win by 1.071 seconds.

Rick Stouffer, of Hagerstown, led all the way in the Ernie D’s pure stocks to capture victory and become the 10th different winner in the division.
