Linda Pleasant, 64, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, July 26, 2012.

She was born Dec. 6, 1947, in Oklahoma. She was the daughter of the late Junior Lee and Ellenora Cook.

She had been employed for more than 24 years at Hagerstown Kitchens as a cabinet sander, until she was forced into early retirement in 2010. Prior to that, she also worked at Maryland Maid Kitchens for 11 years, and the White Coffee Pot as a waitress, in the early '70s.

She was a loving mother and great friend who loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed going to yard sales and trying her luck on the "one-armed bandits." She was also an avid Orioles fan who loved watching the games.

She is survived by two daughters, Amy Garvin and husband, Joe, and Tammy Pleasant and longtime companion, Jamie Hoak; and one granddaughter, Kayla Garvin. She is also survived by her longtime companion, Phil Longnecker, along with his four children and grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Donna Grey, Mary Stover and Kathy Benner; and one brother, Kenneth Cook.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Russell Cook.

Family will receive friends Sunday, July 29, 2012, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

Funeral services will be at Minnich Funeral Home, Monday, July 30, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Michael Seger will officiate. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport, Md.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in Linda's honor to John R. Marsh Cancer Center, 11110 Medical Campus Road, Suite 129, Hagerstown, MD 21742 or to Meritus Health Care Foundation, 11116 Medical Campus Road, Hagerstown, MD 21742.

The family would like to personally thank all those who showed kindness, compassion and support, especially Dr. Michael McCormack.
