Leitersburg Cinemas will donate $1 from every movie ticket sold Saturday and Sunday to help support the victims and families of the movie theater shootings in Aurora, Colo., last week.

Leitersburg Cinemas also has committed to a dollar-for-dollar match of the total ticket sales over the two days. The donation will be made to Community First Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity with a history of effectively and efficiently targeting resources in Colorado to help people in need during times of crisis.

“Our hearts go out to the victims and their families who were devastated by this senseless act of violence,” Rich Daughtridge, co-owner of Leitersburg Cinemas, said in a press release. “In addition to taking steps this week to ensure a safe entertainment venue, we also wanted to do our part to help the victims on behalf of Leitersburg Cinemas, the greater tri-state community and other independent theater operators around the country.”

Direct online donations may be made at www.GivingFirst.org. Donations may be made with all major credit cards or from a personal bank account.
