Associated Builders and Contractors Inc. to refurbish San Mar Children's Home

The Cumberland Valley Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors Inc. plans to refurbish, in one day, six bedrooms at San Mar Children’s Home in Boonsboro.

ABC members, nonmembers and volunteers from the community are invited to participate in the Aug. 11 makeover, according to an emailed news release.

Volunteers, bedroom furniture and money are needed for the project, according to information in the release. Carpeting, paint and window treatments have been collected for the event.

Companies already committed to helping with the project include Rentals Unlimited, Waynesboro Construction Co. Inc., The Home Depot and Paul Davis Restoration, the release said.

People interested in volunteering for this project or contributing may contact Dan Day of San Mar Children’s Home at 301-733-9067.

Those who would like to make donations in the form of checks may make out the checks to San Mar Children’s Home, the release said.

San Mar Children’s Home takes in troubled girls or girls who need a place to go temporarily.

Associated Builders and Contractors represents the construction trades nationally. The Cumberland Valley Chapter sponsoring the event covers Allegany, Carroll, Frederick, Garrett and Washington counties in Maryland; Adams, Bedford, Franklin and Fulton counties in Pennsylvania; and Berkeley, Hampshire, Jefferson, Mineral and Morgan counties in West Virginia.
