Twyla Rowe named new chaplain at Fahrney-Keedy Home

BOONSBORO — The Rev. Twyla Rowe has accepted the full-time position of director of pastoral care/ chaplain at Fahrney-Keedy Home and Village in Boonsboro.

Her first day in the position will be July 30. 

She is an ordained minister in the Church of the Brethren.

Rowe has served two congregations during the past 19 years, most recently at Westminster (Md.) Church of the Brethren, where, since 2001, she has been the minister of Christian nurture.

Her responsibilities over the years have required a variety of skills, such as directing the Christian education programs for all ages, coordinating the older adult ministry task group, preaching, worship planning, hospital visitation and administrative functions. 

She has a Bachelor of Arts in organizational management from Eastern Mennonite University, in Harrisonburg, Va., and a certificate for the completion of TRIM (Training in Ministry) from Bethany Theological Seminary, Richmond, Ind. 

Rowe succeeds the Rev. Loyal Vanderveer, who served as interim chaplain following the death of the Rev. Sharon Peters in December 2011.
