"Jack" Roy McClay Corwell, 93, of Big Spring Road, Clear Spring, entered eternal rest on July 22, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Born May 14, 1919, in Benevola, Md., he was the son of the late Charles William and Anna Belle Weaver Corwell.
 
He was the oldest member of  St. John’s United Church of Christ in Clear Spring, having joined April 1, 1934.

He was a self-employed farmer and livestock dealer his entire life. He took great pride in operating his farm.

He was with the Class of 1938 of Clear Spring  High School.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Louise Gower Corwell, in 2000.

He is survived by his daughter and caregivers, Emily Louise Knode and husband, Thomas, of Clear Spring; one son, Keith Gower Corwell and wife, Melissa, of Clear Spring; and two sisters, Pauline Miller of Waynesboro, Pa., and Phyllis K. Kriegh of Philadelphia. He was very proud of his grand- and great-grandchildren; grandsons, Michael D. Knode and wife, Kim, of Easton, Md., and Eric D. Knode and wife, Kelly, of Clear Spring; granddaughter, Rachel Louise Corwell; and great-grandchildren, Keller, Clayton and Evelyn Knode. 

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Roy Charles Corwell in 1961; sister, Lorraine C. Howell; and two brothers, Edward Corwell and an infant brother.

Services will be held Thursday, July 26, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring. The Rev. Dr. Terrence Foor will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Clear Spring.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday July 25, from 6 to 9 p.m. For the convenience of friends, you may visit the funeral home after 1 p.m.
