HAGERSTOWN — The Hagerstown Suns took a 5-4 lead in the seventh inning, then pulled away with a five-run eighth to defeat the Augusta Greenjackets 10-4 on Sunday afternoon in a South Atlantic League game at Municipal Stadium.

The Suns (59-40 overall, 17-13 second half) have won two straight over the Greenjackets (48-50, 16-13) following a six-game slide. They pulled back into a three-way tie atop the Northern Division with Lakewood and Hickory.

Billy Burns, Cutter Dykstra, J.R. Higley, Jeremy Mayo and Caleb Ramsey all had two hits for Hagerstown on Sunday. Higley was 2-for-2 with two doubles, two walks and two RBIs.

Trailing 4-3 entering the bottom of the seventh, the Suns started the frame with singles by Mayo and Ramsey off Greenjackets reliever Demondre Arnold (4-2), who took the loss. Steven Neff replaced Arnold and got a popup and strikeout, but Dykstra hit a two-run line-drive double to left to score Mayo with the tying run and Ramsey with the go-ahead run.

Hagerstown pounded Neff in the eighth to pull away. Higley doubled and Hendry Jimenez singled before Mayo’s RBI double and RBI singles by Ramsey, Burns and Bryce Ortega. Justin Miller’s sacrifice fly off reliever Christopher Marlowe scored Burns with the final run.

Neff allowed five runs on seven hits in 1 1/3 innings.

The late offense made a winner of Suns reliever Leonard Hollins (1-0), who allowed one run on two hits in two innings. Starter Taylor Hill worked the first six innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and three walks.

Jose Flores went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI for the Greenjackets.

Devin Harris’ two-run home run gave Augusta a 2-0 lead in the fourth before Highley’s two-run double and a fielding error gave the Suns a 3-2 lead in the bottom half.

Flores’ single in the fifth — which led to a throwing error — tied the game at 3, and his RBI double in the top of the seventh gave the Greenjackets a 4-3 lead.
