Singing sergeants to perform at HCC amphitheater Thursday

July 22, 2012

The Hagerstown Community College Alumni Association will host the U.S. Air Force Concert Band and Singing Sergeants as part of its annual Red, White and Blue Summer Concert Series on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at HCC’s Alumni Amphitheater.

The band is the largest symphonic wind ensemble in the U.S. Air Force Band.

The concert band presents more than 100 concerts annually and performs a variety of music from light classics, popular favorites and instrumental features to classical transcriptions and original works. The concert band performs regularly for the general public in the greater Washington, D.C., area and on biannual community relations tours throughout the U.S.

At the July 26 performance, the concert band will be joined by members of the U.S. Air Force Singing Sergeants. The Singing Sergeants is composed entirely of sergeants from the U.S. Air Force and is one of the few singing groups to be internationally recognized for its commitment to excellence in vocal performance.
