July 22, 2012

Martin’s Food Markets is donating more than $20,000 to three Washington County Public Schools.

The Board of Education voted unanimously July 17 to accept the donations, which came through the supermarket’s A+ Rewards program.

A $7,599 donation to Boonsboro Middle School will be used to support special events for students and for general instructional programs, said Steve Wernick, director for elementary education.

A $7,878 donation to North Hagerstown High School will offset expenses for extracurricular athletic programs, said Wernick, according to a video of the school board meeting.

A $5,251 donation to Williamsport Elementary School will pay for instructional materials to enhance and support the school’s magnet program, Wernick said.
