The Hagerstown Branch of the American Association of University Women awarded 14 scholarships to Washington County students for the 2012-13 academic year.
The awards were funded by proceeds from the AAUW used book sales, plus money given in memory or in honor of members of the organization.
First-time AAUW scholarship recipients are Erin Artz (Williamsport High), who will attend Shepherd University; Erin Gaines (Williamsport High) who will attend Juniata College; Rebecca Litton (Hagerstown Community College), who will attend Towson University; Tara Robertson (Williamsport High), who will attend Towson University; Sarah Stayer (Smithsburg High), who will attend St. Mary’s College of Maryland; and Crystal Welling (Clear Spring High), who will attend Wilson College.
Current holders of AAUW scholarships who reapplied and continued to meet academic and financial-need requirements were granted renewals. They are: Anastasia Gaines (Indiana University of Pennsylvania), Camille Heim (West Virginia University), Jenna Hull (West Virginia University), Sally Johnston (Hood College), Danielle Moore (Virginia Tech), Meredith Reynolds (Bridgewater College), Kandis Stoy (Shepherd University) and Samantha Truax (Hood College).
