Chocolate Garden Tea fundraiser July 28 to benefit Doleman Black Heritage Museum

Friends of The Doleman Black Heritage Museum will host the Chocolate Garden Tea fundraiser Saturday, July 28, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Applause Catering.

Individual tickets cost $25, and sponsor tables for eight cost $200. Proceeds will go to the museum.

Entertainment will be provided by local vocalist and classical and contemporary pianist professor LaTonya Wrenn of Bowie State University.

The attire for the event is tea time attire, and yes, hats, fascinators and gloves add to the ensemble.

Sponsors include Friends of DBHM, DBHM board of directors and Snavely’s Garden Corner.

Doors open at 2 p.m. at Applause Catering, 58 E. Washington St. in Hagerstown.

The Doleman Black Heritage Museum Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 2008 and represents the Doleman Black History Museum collection of Marguerite and Charles Doleman founded in 1972 in their home in Hagerstown.

Since the museum’s humble beginnings, it has strived to preserve and showcase the life and experience of African-Americans living in and around Hagerstown and Washington County.
