Harvey Jean Lemarié, 96, of Hagerstown, Md., and formerly of Middletown, N.Y., passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at Homewood Retirement Center in Williamsport, Md.
Born Aug. 17, 1915, in Ridgefield Park, N.J., he was the son of the late Lucien Emile and Ella M. Fitzpatrick Lemarié.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II in the Pacific theater.
He was a member of Dixon-Troxell American Legion Post 211 of Funkstown, Md.
He was a painter of pictures, builder of furniture, and during his working life, he was a decorator for several department stores in the New York area. He was on the staff of the Daily Okinawan newspaper during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Emily Thiessen Lemarié of Hagerstown, the love of his life and his best friend, married June 28, 1941; daughter, Nancy L. Rowe of Carson City, Nev.; son, David P. Lemarié and his wife, Anne, of Sharpsburg, Md.; one niece; and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Adrien L. Lemarié.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
